You can't argue with the fact the price has dropped.

The only question is why? It's not like there has been anything new from the company since the last financial report. The so called BB10 launch was nothing of the sort. We have no idea what hardware or software will be included in the final device offering.

The world is full of suckers who are finally succumbing to the BS bloggers and others have been writing about RIM and sold their shares.

Unless you were absolutely desperate for cash it's hard to see why you would sell.

Lots of people making money from the fools though. There's so much value in RIMM if you're patient you could make a fortune.

There's a real smell around the valuation on this stock.

Oh, and RIM is fast on its way to becoming just a secure email provider. Its other patents will be sold off and its cellphone manufacturing operations dismantled.

With RIM at its all-time low since 2004 everyone is wondering if they have already been marked for a purchase. I am not exactly sure of the patents RIM holds, but if you're reading this John, an article about the benefits of buying RIM off the market would be appreciated, especially in the context of who would be a potential buyer - Apple, Google, maybe Facebook even or Amazon.

Rim had a monopoly on QWERTY plastic keyboard based push email small screen devices. Rim has never been known to be a smart and open company, which is a prerequisite nowadays. Rim's strengths are actually anti-success factors. Facebook for example absolutely needs no security such as the antiquated Rim security. iOS apps and Android apps require maximal public reach and openness in volume and in accesses, in today's 99% open world, the few and far in between Kremlin and CIA styles of computing are as welcome as a dead rotting rat in the heat of summer. Yet look at what Rim is preaching and celebrating - DoD style Maxwell Smart kind of data encryption email and messaging phones! LMAO. BB10 is synonymous with Kremlin Cold War spyphones. Rim is marketing this oxymoron which is Rim's unshakable DNA, the Rim trolls can perhaps apply for jobs for the KGB, led by Thorsten Heins perhaps? Rim itself could possibly be bought out by the KGB and somehow disappear from the public? Going, going, gone...

I guess I should set up a blog for these comments but I am not long RIMM and shouldn't be writing this.
Know what I'm not going to write except to say that move ahead 2 years, Apple will be a niche payer like with pc in years past and with no big reason to upgrade so sales forecasts will be way high as with RIMM in the past year. Android will dominate consumer but have such poor security that security/privacy will hinder it. So market share will be BB10, and Windows 8. The carriers Worldwide DO NOT want a duo-opoly and lowest cost of ownership FOR THE CARRIERS. So that's the lineup 2-3 years from now. There's a whole bunch of reasons more but you figure it out.
Hint: look past Win7 mobile and look to integrated windows8 platform

Like people said the about the iPhone in 2007? Or the iPad in 2010? Or the iPod in 2001?

Given you could map 100% of the surface area of the earth in 3 years for about 250 million, the is no technical or financial reason Apple could not pull this off. I question if this is fully ready given C3 was only purchased only 9 months ago. But given the limited usefulness of street view, I would welcome a new view on the world.

Google doesn't necessarily have the best basic street data; they have impressive business lists and, of course, streetview, but their map data is not the best for navigation; it's possible to buy better data from a vendor. It wouldn't help Apple distinguish themselves from other navigation solutions, but they wouldn't necessarily be at a disadvantage to Google.

After using these devices, and limitations of the Fire's android apps, I don't see how the Nook, Fire, or Galaxy Tabs will overtake iPad. The iPads just work while the others present functional and UX frustrations daily. I'm back to the iPad for now.

Google map data is woefully out of date. MapQuest easily pounds them on accuracy. When Google Map debued, it was fantastic. That was years ago.
